Qué es un adverbio?
Los adverbios son palabras que se utilizan para cambiar, modificar o agregar más información sobre un verbo en una oración. Un adverbio también puede modificar un adjetivo, o incluso a otro adverbio, con el propósito de hacer que el significado de la oración sea más preciso.
Existen algunas características en común que facilitan la tarea de identificar un adverbio en una oración en inglés. Usualmente, los adverbios en este idiomas son adjetivos modificados que terminan en la partícula -ly.Palabras como quickly (rápidamente), happily (felizmente), o shortly (en breve) son adverbios. No obstante, esta regla no se cumple en todos los casos, de modo que identificar estas palabras se vuelve más complicado. Otra forma para identificar un adverbio es al fijarse en la ubicación de las palabras dentro de la oración. Usualmente, los adverbios se ubican inmediatamente antes o después de la palabra que están modificando. Si aún no se está seguro de cuál es el adverbio, entonces se debe buscar aquella palabra o expresión que añada información a la acción de la oración.
Dependiendo del tipo de adverbio que esté en uso, puede dar más información sobre cómo sucedió una acción, o dónde ocurrió. También puede pasar que un adverbio esté describiendo cuándo sucedió la acción o la frecuencia con la que ocurrió.

Los adverbios de tiempo en inglés describen cuándo sucede la acción en una oración, por cuánto tiempo sucede e incluso pueden describir con cuánta frecuencia algo ha sucedido. Estos adverbios usualmente van ubicados en la parte final de la oración, pero esta posición puede cambiar dependiendo qué parte de la oración se quiera enfatizar.

En el caso de adverbios cortos que no terminan en -ly, las formas comparativas y superlativas son idénticas a los adjetivos: se añade -er para formar el comparativo y -est para formar el superlativo. Si el adverbio termina en e, se elimina esta última vocal antes de añadir la terminación.
